What type of lodge/camp is best for me?
Large lodges have the most people, but they often will have the most amenities as well, such as large swimming pools, game rooms, etc. All the rooms may be together in a large building, or they may be in separate buildings of 2 or 4 rooms each.
Small lodges may not have the same amenities, but you will get more personalized service, and it will be quieter.
Permanent tented camps have tents that are like hotel rooms but with canvas walls instead of solid walls. Each tent will separated from the others, and you will have a private, attached bathroom with flush toilet plus shower and sink with hot and cold running water. These camps give you a nice safari feeling but still with some comforts and nice amenities.
Mobile tented camps have no permanent structures at all, and they will move 2-3 times a year to be close to the migration. Your tent will still have a regular bed, some furniture, and a private, attached bathroom. However, there will not be any running water, so you will have a chemical toilet, bucket shower, and wash basin. There will not be a swimming pool. These camps give you a true “out in the bush” feeling.
